Unlike most fiber supplements, UniFiber® is an insoluble fiber - similar to the types of fiber found in nuts and whole grains. Insoluble fiber does not require water to do its job, so it does not cause gas or bloating associated with many other fiber supplements. UniFiber adds bulk to your stool which helps food pass more quickly through the stomach and intestines. Also, since UniFiber is an ultra-fine, grit-free, tasteless powder, it can be added to your favorite recipe without changing the flavor. It is for this reason it has been a popular choice for renal patients and those on restrictive diets.

  • Insoluble Fiber for Easier Use*

What is UniFiber®?

UniFiber®, unlike most fiber supplements, is insoluble (like the fiber found in nuts and whole grains). Insoluble fiber does not require water to do its job, so it does not cause the gas or bloating associated with many other fiber supplements. In addition, since UniFiber® is an ultra-fine, grit-free, tasteless powder, it can be added to your favorite recipe without changing the flavor.

How does UniFiber® work?

UniFiber® adds bulk to your stool which helps food pass more quickly through the stomach and intestines, helping to prevent and relieve occasional constipation. UniFiber® is safe for everyone in your family including children and pregnant women. (For children under 6 years, ask your doctor or pharmacist.) For years it has been a popular choice for those on restrictive diets and renal patients.

UniFiber® Suggested Use

UniFiber® can be taken up to 3 times daily or as recommended by a doctor or pharmacist. Generally produces effect in 12-72 hours. 12 years old to adults One tablespoon of UniFiber® up to 3 times daily. Children 6-11 years old ½ tablespoon up to 2 times daily. Children under 6 years Ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Why should I cleanse with UniFiber®?

UniFiber® is an excellent choice of fiber supplement for maintaining colon health all year long. In addition to adding fiber to your diet, many people benefit from cleansing the colon annually with a fiber cleanse. Since 1998, the Colonix® Advanced Internal Cleansing Program has been one of the most popular colon cleanse systems – with over 2 million programs sold. Colonix® Program is a 30-day, three-component fiber cleanse powered by more than 40 herbs. Think of a cleanse as 'spring cleaning' for your body, a way to gently and effectively kick-start your natural elimination process. Colonix® fiber assists by acting like a sponge in the digestive tract: it expands and becomes spongy, dissolving and absorbing toxins, eventually flushing them out of the body.* If you are considering a first-time cleanse, we recommend: Commit to a full 90-day cleanse with the entire, three-component Colonix® Program, which features Colonix® fiber. After cleansing, use UniFiber® to help maintain colon health.*

Mixing UniFiber® in foods

Stir UniFiber® into soft food (cereal, applesauce, mashed potatoes or pudding). You can also add UniFiber® to your favorite recipes – or try one of our recipes. It is tasteless and doesn't change the flavor of cooked or baked foods. Note: Because UniFiber® will not gel or swell, it can be administered through a feeding tube.

UniFiber® and liquids

Stir UniFiber® into any beverage (water, fruit juice or milk). It is not recommended that you mix UniFiber® into carbonated beverages. There is no minimum liquid requirement for UniFiber®. If you choose to take your UniFiber® in a liquid, whatever amount of liquid you are comfortable taking it with is sufficient.

How much fiber is in each serving of UniFiber®?

Each serving of UniFiber® contains 3 grams of natural fiber, similar to the amount of fiber found in one large bran muffin or ¾ cup of cooked carrots.

What is source of the fiber in Unifiber®?

UniFiber®’s insoluble fiber is derived from wood through cellulose, similar to a plant fiber. Clean and safe fibers derived from trees are in thousands of everyday foods including vegan, organic and gluten free products. When trees are broken down to a fine powder, the cellulose molecule extracted from pulp is the same cellulose found in the plant cell walls of fruits and vegetables. It is one of the most common food additives and has been FDA-approved since the mid-1900s. When used in food, tree cellulose is refined to become as pure as possible. Our bodies process high purity, food-grade cellulose like any other insoluble fiber: we don’t absorb or digest it, rather it passes through our body.

UniFiber® different from other fiber?

UniFiber® is one of the only fiber supplements on the market that is totally insoluble. It offers benefits such as: • No gas and bloating • Can be taken with other medications • No minimum liquid requirement • No choking hazard (does not gel or swell) • Gluten-free, sodium-free, phosphorous-free Additionally, unlike other fiber supplements, this one can “hide” easily in just about anything: smoothies, soups, stir fry, sauces, etc. This makes it particularly suitable for children and those who have a hard time taking fiber that gets thick quickly when prepared.

What does it mean when a Fiber is insoluble?

There are two types of dietary fiber: soluble and insoluble. Insoluble fiber is the kind that doesn’t get thoroughly broken down by the body’s enzymes. Rather, it attracts water to it and then swells up and becomes a thick gel, helping stool to move more quickly and easily through the body.

How long does it take for UniFiber® to produce effect?

UniFiber® generally produces effect in 12 – 72 hours.

When I mix UniFiber® in water is it supposed to mix clear?

No, UniFiber® is an insoluble fiber supplement and therefore will not dissolve. When mixed with water, the water will appear cloudy and the particles will go into suspension but will not dissolve. Although UniFiber® can be mixed in water, you may find that it is most easily taken when mixed with your favorite juice or soft food.

Why is UniFiber® a good fiber supplement for people on a restricted diet?

UniFiber® is sodium, potassium, phosphorus and gluten free. It contains less than one net carb per serving and has less than 4 calories per serving with no artificial sweeteners. UniFiber® requires no extra fluids and there are no special precautions or warnings.

Can I take UniFiber® with my medications?

Unlike psyllium fiber products which caution patients to take their fiber at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking oral medication or vitamins, UniFiber® can be taken at the same time without altering their effectiveness. UniFiber® will not interact with other medications or interfere with drug absorption. However, to be safe, we do ask that you speak to your healthcare provider first as they will be able to confirm if you can take UniFiber® together with your medications.

Difference between Cleanser and Unifiber®

The Colonix® cleansing fiber is a mix of both soluble and insoluble fiber, whereas the Unifiber® is made up of only insoluble fiber. Both kinds of fiber are beneficial and help with keeping the digest tract clean. In general, soluble fiber dissolves in water and gastrointestinal fluids and becomes a gel-like substance that sweeps the colon clean as it moves through your body. Insoluble fiber does not dissolve, but does absorb fluid, helping to produce bulk and to stimulate peristalsis, the body’s natural movement of food and waste through the intestines. Most people do not get enough fiber – of either kind – in their daily diets, so supplementing daily with one or the other is often not only considered safe, but healthful. Keep in mind that a single serving of Unifiber® provides only 3 grams of fiber, where as a serving of the Colonix® Intestinal Cleanser contains nearly 3 times as much (8 grams). If you find that you are especially sensitive to fiber, you might try taking the Unifiber® first, as it “hides” well in other foods and drinks, having no flavor of its own. If you need a “stronger” fiber, then the Colonix® Intestinal Cleanser would be a better choice for you.
